Max is rather possessive of me. I am his Person and in the past he hasn't been good about sharing. When his littermate, Tilly, occasionally dares to sit in my lap, he sits on top of her until she leaves.
So we weren't sure how he would react to a baby and one of my sisters was prepared to take custody of Max and Tilly if it was an issue. (Max and Tilly are a package deal. They are too old to separate at this stage.)
At first he kept far away from Nicholas. After all, in his experience Very Small People are dangerous and unpredictable. But we were happy to note that neither cat showed the least amount of aggression towards Nicholas.
Then he gradually began to creep a bit closer each day. There were two occasions when he tried to push Nicholas off my lap, but quickly responded to the correction each time and backed away.
This week he finally accepted he would need to share my lap. He's not thrilled, but it's better than nothing. Today I happened to have a camera nearby...
Trust me when I say that holding an SLR camera at arm's length and focusing without having a clue what the lens is seeing is not easy! This was the best photo I was able to manage. Now if we could only convince Max to stop stealing (and destroying) the Binkys!
