Home at Last

We are home, safe and sound.

The travel went amazingly smooth. Nicholas spent most of the time sleeping. He would wake periodically to eat and grin at the other travelers. When we arrived at the Zurich airport he did have a bit of Baby Meltdown, but recovered when we got home and once again became our Happy Baby.

We used to be light packers. Those days are apparently gone forever. We came home with 8 pieces of checked luggage and 4 carry-ons. We still have three unpacked suitcases in the living room while we figure out where all the new baby things need to be. The unpacking happens in between feeding Nicholas and changing his diaper and playing with him and rocking him to sleep. Well, you get the idea. I am suppressing my need for organization because the priority is Nicholas, not tidiness. I do it a bit as a time while Nicholas is napping during the day. It will get done, just not right away.

One of the first things we did unpack is his Discovery Quilt, made by Nicholas's Baba (my mother). It combines numerous textures and colors together to help the baby learn and develop his brain. During his alert time in the morning and the afternoon I lay him down on the quilt to play. I also unpacked two rattles given to him by Grandma (Daddy's mother). He loves it and will play happily for up to 30 minutes at a time.

And fortunately, he also loves Tummy Time and is already pushing himself up quite high on his arms while his legs move in a crawl-esque motion. I suspect he will be a baby that becomes mobile sooner rather then later and before too much longer I will be chasing him about the apartment!
While we miss our family and friends back in the US, it is also nice to be home. Even if we will be living out of a suitcase for a few days longer!
