Since we won't be home on his actual 8 month birthday.
And the weather was perfect, but the forecast dismal.
Here he is...

I truly cannot believe how much Nicholas's motoring skills have developed in the last month. It would not surprise me if he is walking by next month! As part of the adoption process on the Swiss side, we need to go to the Mutterberatung* once per month. The nurse asked me to list what he is eating. After I told her she said, "You must be mistaken." I assured her I was not. He really does eat 3 solid meals plus 4-6 full bottles every day.
"But to eat that much and not be fat, he would have to be constantly moving!" she said.
"Exactly!" I said.
Nicholas is not content to learn a new skill and then use it for a week or so. As soon as he learns something, he feverishly practices it until he has mastered it. Then he checks it off the list and moves on to the next skill.
*Mutterberatung means "Mother's Office." Essentially, it's a public health nurse who will answer any questions or discuss any concerns you have. It is provided free of cost by the government. Most parents go frequently for the first six months and then gradually back off over the next year or so.
