The great news is that Nicholas is extremely healthy and has reached or surpassed all of the developmental milestones for 4 months. (Go, Nicholas!)
He was also a lot crankier and did a fair amount of crying yesterday afternoon. By evening he was starting to feel better and he slept well last night. Should be back to himself today.
Normally we would not go back again until he is six months old.
However, I told the doctor that we would be going on a Caribbean cruise shortly after he turns six months old. The doctor feels it would be a good idea to get the Rotavirus vaccine, which requires that the doctor special order it as it is not a typical vaccination here.
However, the Caribbean cruise ships are known for sometimes getting Rotavirus outbreaks, which is not a huge deal, but can cause dehydration and a miserable baby. So we go back in two weeks for that vaccine. The vaccine is delivered orally (so not another shot!) and needs to be administered three times with each dosage at least a few weeks apart.
We will also be picking up a supply of Pedialyte before we get on the ship. Just in case. Although the vaccine will have reached full efficacy by the time we depart, it doesn't hurt to be on the safe side.
