Ready! Set! Go!

This morning I set Nicholas down in his co-sleeper crib to play while I got dressed, just as I do most mornings. I turned my back to get a shirt out of the dresser, and when I turned around again I nearly had a heart attack.

This evening Fred "spotted" Nicholas while I documented the action with the camera.

Nicholas began by grabbing the rail of the crib and bracing his feet against the side...

A bit of a topple...
Immediately tries again...
It's working...
Success! He's standing!
And he is still only 6 months and 3 weeks!

Of course, for safety reasons, we can no longer use the crib as a co-sleeper. Even as I type, Fred is lowering the mattress to turn it into a standard crib with 4 tall sides.

By the way, Nicholas is also learning to crawl. He gets on all fours and rocks. He has even tried to move his hands and knees forward, but has not yet figured out that he needs to move the opposite hand and knee to prevent collapsing on the floor.

It's just a matter of time!
